Silence is golden!
“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:11)
Who would have thought that 4 days of silence could be so easy and so fulfilling? I have now finished my second day of classes since our silent retreat that went from the evening of January 5 to the morning of January 10. It was at the
Through my silence and prayer over those four days (five nights), I was able to clear my mind so that God was the only thing that mattered. Of course, I was preoccupied with how I would fill the time without internet, television, books other than scripture, or friends to talk to. But by the third day, time was taking care of itself. Or should I say, God was taking care of the time.
Now I know what it means to say that we easily get distracted by this world, clouding our mind and making it harder to find God. I believe that even just 20 minutes of silence and meditation on scripture daily can make a real difference in your life. All you have to do is take a chance. All you have to do is follow the verse quoted above.
I have come out of this retreat realizing all the more my close friendship with Christ. He is closer to me than anyone else and is there for me ALL of my moments. He is the one who wakes me in the morning and calms my soul for rest at night. He truly is a lamp for my footsteps. He is my God, but he is also my servant. How thought provoking is that? And the best part: he wants to be that way for all of us, no matter what we have done or are doing now!
---------As long as the new internet continues to work here at school, I will begin posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday again.
